An Invitation from our President, Nancy Sullivan, to Support Social Group Work and the mission of the AASWG
The Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups (AASWG) is the professional social work organization devoted exclusively to promoting social work practice with groups.  For the past twenty-nine years, AASWG has worked to improve the quality of group work education, practice, and research. Its annual international symposium provides a forum for the dissemination of new knowledge as well as an opportunity for professionals from around the world to come together to share their expertise and renew their commitment to group work practice.

Through its all-volunteer Board and the membership as a whole, the Association has created teaching materials including the Standards for Social Work Practice with Groups that have been widely distributed to human service agencies and social work schools and programs. Working closely with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the Association has developed two important books on teaching social work practice with groups in the classroom and field. AASWG also sponsors workshops on these same topics for social work educators at annual conferences in the US and Canada.

We would like to invite you to demonstrate your organization’s commitment to social work practice with groups by becoming an institutional member of AASWG. Your organization’s membership in the Association will allow your staff access to a worldwide body of practitioners and educators committed to group work practice and will provide the following benefits:

•    A link to your institution on our website: www.aaswg.org.
•    Recognition in the annual symposium program. (Larger ad space available for a reduced fee)
•    Member rates on registration fees for any staff member (for social service organizations) or faculty member (for academic institutions) attending chapter activities
•    Faculty (academic institutions) or staff (social service agencies) access to the members-only section of our website for teaching and practice resources
•    Discounts on social group work publications
•    A 15% discount on non-member rate on registration fees for any staff member (for social service organizations) or faculty member (for academic institutions) who attends our annual symposium and other AASWG-sponsored educational activities

The dues structure is as follows:
•    Schools with fifteen or more faculty: $500.00 annually
•    Schools with fourteen or fewer faculty: $250.00 annually
•    Agencies and organizations with twenty-five or more social work staff: $500.00 annually
•    Agencies and organizations with twenty-four or fewer social work staff: $250.00 annually

A membership form can be downloaded for your convenience. I invite you to contact me directly for further information. We look forward to having you join us in our efforts to keep social work practice with groups alive and assist us in nurturing and supporting a new generation of social group workers. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this offer.

Sincerely,

Nancy Sullivan, Ph.D., R.S.W.
